So to start my project, I looked straight into ‘Metamorphosis’ and the different things it can be linked to and perceived as…

1. Metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth or hatching. This involves an abrupt change in the animals body structure through cell growth and differentiation-(when a cell changes into a more specialized cell type).

2. Complete change in form, structure, substance

3. Any complete change in appearance, character, circumstances,etc..

4. 1530’s history-Change of form or shape, especially by witchcraft.

When I first thought of Metamorphosis I immediately thought of a caterpillar emerging from its chrysalis.Its a very obvious idea and there are many things this could be liked to like.. cell division, the growth of a city-could be liked to japan through the ‘ori’, flowers, sex change, and there are many more.

The area that I thought I could explore was that of a person with a split personality or alter-ego.
